by Little Yellow Teapot (a tea steeping marvel and occasional contributing author to this e-zine)
The holiday season is approaching, so my humans started getting out the various items they hadn’t unpacked yet since moving here in May of last year. I loved the snow globe with the sleigh and tiny humans (I sure hope they’re not real) inside. It seemed like a good time for a quick cuppa tea. This one was part of the samples we had received from Empire Tea Services recently as part of their holiday promotion efforts.
Ingredients are listed on their store site as Gunpowder green tea with Peach and Apricot flavoring. A best seller. This is a green tea, so I backed off on the water temperature to about 180°F, which is what is on the package label, and steeped for only 3 minutes. That was plenty of time to have the pellets of Gunpowder tea fully open and the flavors of peach and apricot to do their job. In fact, I did a second infusion, too. The tea was still flavorful, and the fruits were still evident. There was no bitterness or unpleasant grassiness that some green teas are known to have.
Score another success story for yours truly. Been keeping my humans’ massive thirst for tea satisfied for several years now. TOOOT!
